Is blood work important for your pet?

The answer is…. VERY IMPORTANT. I know many people are hesitant to spend the money but it tells a veterinarian so much, especially since you pet companion speaks gruff, meow, tweet, hiss or maybe nothing at all. If you have a limited budget, bloodwork is one the of few options I highly recommend doing.

Of course, it is just as important to run the right blood work. There are so many different versions of CBC and Complete Profiles and add-ons. For instance, if your kitty in unexplainable pain, add on the inexpensive pancreatitis test. Your veterinarian, veterinarian specialist will determine what's best but ask questions like, what else could it be and is there a simple add-on to check it.

Bloodwork may provide the answer as to what is wrong but if not, it will be of great help in guiding your veterinarian in the right direction instead of blindly treating and hoping it helps.

Ultimately, it may save your pet and your money, especially if you're treating your companion for the wrong issue.

So what do you do about the expense? Unfortunately, money does not grow on trees and the veterinarians are not free. If you can afford it, that’s the best option. But that’s not always the case and there's help out there.
